Business and Politically Oriented Books

Well, I will step into this mud hole for a very short while and see how it goes. For the record, I am neither Democrat not Republican, neither conservative nor liberal though my tendencies are small government, fiscal conservative, social liberal. Libertarians will want to say here that, “Ah ha! He is one of us.” Sorry, but I am not libertarian, either. I just happen to believe that people should be able to do as they will, as long as I retain the right to 1)not participate, 2)disagree with their choices, and 3)be free to express my disagreement in a civil manner.

I say all this because I refuse to be pigeon-holed by someone who disagrees with me on a particular point. Too often political discourse degenerates into a kaka-poopie screaming fit because of…and this is bizarre to me…a single issue. Many on both sides of the aisle, red and blue are convinced that everyone on the other side is either evil or stupid. The ones who do not believe this keep their mouths shut because they fear the unholy wrath of their own rank and file. I cannot figure out if it is like herding cats or like trying to throw chunks of meat in one direction in an effort to herd sharks when trying to get a consensus.

What are my leanings in addition to my opening? I suppose I should get that out there in the open right from the get-go and establish a few ground rules. I was born a democrat, had my faith in government restored by a Republican, wasted my time with Ross Perot, had a serious mickey slipped to me that caused me to support Ralph Nader for a few short months, and wasted two years claiming I was a Libertarian because I was hoping the so called right leaning Republican party would finally get religion and understand what individual rights and…oh who cares? Everybody in politics lies. Period.

So, I have finally settled down to taking the position that Wallace tried to take in the opening scenes of Braveheart…if they will let me be, they can play their games. I simply want a good life for me and my kids to be and I care not who rules the world. You can have your taxes within reason, only let me be and do not try to control even the very thoughts in my head or how I rear my kids.

At least that is what I wish I could do. I hope to have a better outcome than he did.

In trying to review a selection of books for this bubble in my mind map…or maybe it is an aneurysm causing me to post this and not a bubble, I thought I would come up with a list of works that I have both read and that are considered recognized works. I say aneurysm because nothing makes people turn on each other like rabid dogs faster than politics. Possible exceptions are divorce and its cousin, child custody. Still, the only thing evil needs to prosper are for good men to do nothing. I do not know who said that. If you do, please let me know so I can credit him or her.

Also, I changed this category from Political Books to Business and Political Books. As you follow my reveiws and occasional rants, you will see why they are the same to me.

For the record, there are folks of all stripes who simply want a good life or do well in life. There are as many people who want to live a good life and treat others well and accomplish things in life and see poverty eliminated who call themselves Communist as call themselves Capitalists.  Hmmm, I see a neo-conservatives head just exploded in the back there…someone help him sit up, please.

Let me be frank. I despise politics, both left and right, and everything associated with it. Why? Because when it comes right down to it, it is about the drive to power, not the drive to cooperate for everyone’s benefit. I hate it and I know that many of you will tell me I am wrong and that is fine because it is still legal to disagree with each in this country.
