About Tim Singleton

I am an Alabama native, being born in Childersburg. I think I am right in saying that the oldest settlement in the States has been found on the banks of the Coosa River near where I lived as a child. Attended CHS and turned away from sports to mathematics because I had the BEST math teacher in the world, Dean Ingram. I work as a dispatcher for PC Helpdesk technicians for a county government in Alabama. I made a good bit of money in the dot com boom for a short while and learned a lot of valuable lessons about just how much work is involved in running a business. In the final analysis, though, all I managed to do was to survive by the skin of my teeth.

I am currently going through the process of looking for a wife abroad. It has not been an easy task. You have to work your way through introductions and motivations. It is definitely a character builder, though. As to WHY I am looking abroad, simply look at the divorce rate amongst Americans. Anything further will have to be a personal conversation, though.

I read for pleasure and write for the same reason. It is not a hardship for me to write…I sit down at the keyboard and out it comes. I agree with one of my favourite authors, Stephen King, who seems to think that if you do not enjoy writing, leave it to those of us who do.

Did I say writing was easy? Yes, it is. Writing well is more of a trick and getting published is another thing altogether. I guess I just hope readers enjoy the worlds I find when channeling through my keyboard as much as I do. Some of the folks I find there I love, some I hate, and some I just have to stare at and wonder where they came from. As for the books I review here, each one has touched me in some way whether it is because the writer has articulated an idea that appeals to me or because they have made me fall in love with the female protagonist as Gene Stratton Porter, the author of Freckles did. I must have read that book maybe ten times in high school. Others that I simply cannot abide? I don’t know. I have not made up my mind whether I will be reviewing them or not as too acidic a review will cause people to buy the book just because of MY reaction to it.  We will see.
